Most people do not think critically and they certainly are not open-minded. The Ethics Bowl expects students to do both, repeatedly, and on a variety of topics that are designed to provoke disagreement.

2026 Tournament Details

Qualification

A maximum of 12 teams will participate in the 2026 University Bowl. Should more than 12 teams apply, then each applicant will be invited to participate in a virtual qualifying (VQ) event to determine the final 12 national teams. The VQ will either be a single day tournament or a series of isolated matches.

Each team must pay a non-refundable $50 application fee. Teams who qualify for the College Bowl will need to pay a separate, $150 registration fee. Teams are responsible for travel and accommodations while in Halifax. 

Eligibility

Any person currently enrolled at a Canadian university studying at the undergraduate level and who has never been a graduate student.  Minimum two, maximum six players per team.
